Harris K. Weiner has practiced in Rhode Island for twenty years and in Massachusetts for eighteen. He was selected in 2007 as one of the top business litigators in Rhode Island by Super Lawyers based on peer evaluation and an independent review of his professional achievements. Harris has extensive trial, appellate and administrative experience and has held significant positions in all three branches of state government.
A graduate of Bowdoin College, Harris received an M.B.A. from Bryant College and a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, with honors. He served as Judicial Law Clerk to Justice Thomas F. Kelleher of the Supreme Court of Rhode Island as well as Judge Ronald R. Lagueux of the U.S. District Court for Rhode Island. He then worked as a commercial litigator in large firms in his native Providence and in Boston for many years before being named Deputy Executive Counsel to Governor Lincoln Almond. After four years he became Executive Counsel for the Department of Transportation where he focused on real estate, personnel and construction matters.
Harris returned to private practice in 2003 when he joined this office as Of Counsel. He remains active in government, serving as part-time Legal Counsel to the Senate Minority Leader and as a member of the Pawtucket Board of Canvassers. He is a past recipient of the Partners in Philanthropy Award for community service and the Bar Association's Pro Bono Publico Award for volunteer legal services for the indigent.
